Are you a Capricorn a Taurus a Pieces a Scorpio? I'm sure you've been asked that before ~ meaning ~ what's your sun sign? In our sparkly galactic beyond ~ that's code for asking "which planet was hanging out with the sun on your magical day of your birth? Sitting in your house sipping "welcome to earth school" tea.
This moment is showing you how
the leaves the season of blowing air Just Let Go I awoke with vivid pictures and feelings body sensations of 2 humans 2 situations That had wronged me Dancing from one thing to the next.
Mow the yard. Get my walk in. Clean the kitchen. Write a blog post. Weed-wack around the trees. Promote the Women’s Awakening Festival. Drink some water. Teach a yoga class. Clean the bathroom. Did I eat lunch? Sneak in a few pages of reading. Hop on the kayak. Return client texts. Sneak in dinner. Return client emails. Ahhh…I could go on and on. For this redhead (and I am sure you too) are hard to slow down during the season of fire. Blow through me, around me, and within me.
Each of us has a connection to the elements of nature. Water Earth Fire Air For those of you who are creatives & visionaries, or for those of you who hop from one task to the next, from one idea to the next…you embody the qualities of Air. And now that we are in the Fall season…Hold onto your hat! You may be in for a whirlwind of thoughts almost like a “I’m going crazy” like state of mind. Because as the Fall season greets us with blowing winds and colorful falling leaves, the element of Air becomes dominant. Adding to the already Air within. In yoga’s sister science of Ayurveda, the air & ether elements are referred to as Vatta. (pronounced: vaw taw) When Vatta takes over and dangerously dips into the I’m spinning or should I say blowing out of control energy, everything seems like a Vatta Gotta. I gotta do this. I gotta do that. But, if you employ some simple grounding and nurturing rituals during this Fall season…your Vatta Gotta will morph into creative energy. This energy will guide you towards gracious action as you flow into this magical season of change. Oh ya…a couple of my favorite grounding rituals: warm baths sprinkled with your favorite essential oils (my Fall season blend favorite is lavender, cedar wood, & patchouli)…a few sprinkles of each will do the trick. Post soothing bath, warm some avocado oil (or any oil you like to use on your skin) and massage it in using a twisting motion called Abhyanga (twist like you are ringing out the skin). And, you can’t beat a yummy cup of chai post a soothing yin yoga class. I was living smack in the middle of the busy-business of Washington DC. The energetic buzz was palpable yet on one particular evening I was being comforted by my quiet fireplace lit condo in Dupont; soothed by the stillness of the night. I felt grounded. I felt calm. I felt ready. I had decided to take my 15 years of yoga practice & study up a notch and head to where the roots of yoga’s amazingness originated. India here I come! And like many major life decisions, I turned over my fate to Google to find the ideal training institute. Well, I didn’t completely let an inanimate piece of technology be my only magic worker. I also employed an intuitive tool I had been using to help me select web pages to click on. I used the energy I could feel in my hands as I scrolled through the myriad of selections and voila. There she was; The Sattvik Sedan. I had no idea what”Sattvik” meant which was even further validation for me to learn more. And here I am several years later sharing with you the blissful meaning of Sattvik. It means living in harmony with a dynamic stillness. Sattvik is exactly what I needed to learn then and now. Here is a huge life lesson pulled from the ancient teachings of Yoga (& Ayurveda) philosophy: The happiest of all lives is a busy solitude. ~ Voltaire Go ahead…enjoy the vibrant feeling of “getting things done”- be dynamic. But notice at the same moment busy-ness is happening so is stillness. When those two forces find a happy marriage; that is when radiant bliss comes out of hiding and smack into the middle of your life. Here is powerful intention statement just for you: I choose to live in dynamic stillness.
